Carolina in the Fall audience at night

August 23, 2017

Carolina in the Fall Music and Food Festival presented by Wilkes Communications, Inc. announced that they will be hosting the 2nd Annual Chad Lovette Memorial 5k and 10k Trail Run to benefit the American Cancer Society. “Carolina in the Fall is very thankful to be the host for the 2nd Annual Chad Lovette Memorial Trail Run. Last year, with the help of over 200 participants we raised $10,000 to help the American Cancer Society in their effort to find the cure. The festival is the wonderful setting for a benefit event that focuses on helping those who are dealing with this disease and those that are working to find a cure”, said Daniel. “It is a perfect fit for our festival mission. Our Trail Run will wear the name of Chad Lovette to remember and honor him and his love for this region’s music.”

Chad Lovette, a native of Wilkes County passed away on July 9, 2016 after an extended battle with brain cancer. Chad was a graduate of Wilkes Central High School and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. His passions were traveling far and wide, hiking, surfing, camping and living large with his family and friends. Chad played in the inaugural 2015 Carolina in the Fall Music and Food Festival in downtown Wilkesboro with his brother Shay’s band, Brushy Rides. Chad’s parents, Rick and Beth Lovette will serve as the honorary Trail Run Official Starters.

The Trail Run is presented by Farm Alarm Systems, Inc. Other businesses interested in being sponsors for the event should contact Michelle at 336-990-0747. Each participant that registers by September 4th will receive a Trail Run tee-shirt and Trail Run Patch. “Proceeds raised from the Trail Run will go directly to the American Cancer Society”, said Daniel Isom, “The setting will be beautiful for a great morning out in nature. If you are not a runner, come walk the trails.” The run will be held on the newly constructed trails around Cub Creek Park in downtown Wilkesboro on Saturday morning, September 23rd.
