Chad Lovette Trail Run

Carolina in the Fall Music and Food Festival presented by Wilkes Communications, Inc. is proud to announce we will be hosting the 4th Annual Chad Lovette Memorial Trail Run to benefit the American Cancer Society.  The Trail Run will be held on Saturday September 21 at the Cub Creek Trails in downtown Wilkesboro.  Our first two runs have been a huge success!  Over 500 runners have participated in the event and over $24,000 has been raised for the American Cancer Society!!chad lovette trail run 2

Chad Lovette, a native of Wilkes County passed away on July 9, 2016 after an extended battle with brain cancer. Chad was a graduate of Wilkes Central High School and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He was a singer/songwriter and most enjoyed playing music with his band, Green House, and with his brother. His passions were traveling far and wide, hiking, surfing, camping and living large with his family and friends. Chad played in the inaugural Carolina in the Fall Festival in downtown Wilkesboro with his brother Shay’s band, Brushy Rides.

All proceeds from entry fees will be donated to the American Cancer Society.  Each participant who submits their entry form by September 3rd will receive a Trail Run T-shirt and a Trail Run Patch.  Entry forms may be turned in up to the morning of the run, but for any forms received after Sept 3, no T-shirt or patch will be available. The Battles Necessary / Steel Magnolias Relay for Life Team will be on hand to assist during the event. This Wilkes County Fundraising team has spent over 20 years working events to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Event Registration

Entry forms may be emailed to michelle AT heartoffolk DOT com or mailed / dropped off at 1305 S Collegiate Dr, Wilkesboro, NC. Participants may choose to participate in the 5k untimed, 5k timed or 10k timed.  The 5k is one loop on the Cub Creek Trails and the 10k is two loops on this trail.  Entry fees may be paid by cash, check, or credit card (via phone or at the office).  Make checks payable to Heart of Folk with CLM Trail Run in the ‘For” line.  Participants may begin checking in at 7:00 am the morning of the run.  The run will begin promptly at 8:00 am.  Parking for the event is located at 200 S Bridge St, Wilkesboro, NC.

Racing Toes will be on hand to run the timing of the race this year. 

Prizes

Prizes will be given to overall winners in men’s and women’s divisions as well as age group divisions.
